By getting involved in National Safe Work Month this October, employees benefit from having a healthier and safer workplace, and businesses can be in the running to win the Workplace Participation Reward worth $5,000.
As at the 7th October, 129 Australian workers have been killed at work in 2016. Agriculture, forestry and fishing, Transport, postal & warehousing and Construction rounded out the three industries with the most deaths – totalling 95, with still two and a half months to go until the end of the year.
By getting involved in National Safe Work Month, businesses and workers are encouraged to think of new and creative ways to build awareness of health and safety in the workplace, and hopefully reduce the number of work deaths.
Any sole trader, business or other organisation operating within Australia is invited to submit a Workplace Participation Reward entry.
Businesses can participate by:
- Plan your workplace National Safe Work Month activities
- Deliver and evaluate your National Safe Work Month activities
- Tell Safe Work Australia about your National Safe Work Month activities, by completing the online Workplace Participation Reward entry form. Submit the form and include some photos to support your entry.
The winner of the Workplace Participation Reward will be announced in early December and will receive a prize pack up to $5,000. The prize pack includes:
- Registration fees for one work health and safety conference, expo or event, held in Australia in 2017
- Return economy airfares from the winners’ nearest port, and
- Accommodation and ground transfers.
