This Thursday, 1st December, sees the launch of Tools Down, a new monthly event aimed at connecting the tradie community and providing trades with relevant information and services.
Sadly tradies are over-represented in the stats for those suffering from depression and suicide. Three quarters of suicides are men, with poor mental health leading to half a million men taking their own life every year.
But it’s not all bad news – the professionals say the best way to reduce those numbers is to have a strong and supportive community around those suffering from depression.
Tools Down #notoolsallowed, an initiative of the team at Adelaide Conflict Management, is about building a stronger and more vibrant community for tradies. The aim is to get together once a month for a parmi and a beer/wine and the opportunity to just have fun or listen to an engaging speaker discuss topics that are relevant and informative.
Tools Down will also be supporting Mens’ Shed by helping them out with some fundraising and learning more about their terrific programme – which provides support and plays such an important role in the lives of many people who are struggling with many of life’s challenges.
Thursday’s launch will include Troy Gray as MC, live music and great food. Held at the Comfort Inn Regal Park, North Adelaide, the event starts at 5:30pm.
